>The Simple Things

>Cold and raw the north wind doth blow,
Bleak in the morning early;
All the hills are covered with snow,
And winter’s now come fairly.

(-Mother Goose)

It’s definitely been bitter cold around these parts. Not much snow and the sun has only just decided recently that it likes to be out and about. BUT, winter does have some redeeming qualities. Like Starkness. There’s nothing more revealing than winter. It strips away all the fluff so that we can see the quality underneath. The real beauty sometimes lies in the structure. Only Winter gives us the opportunity to see that. So, while I’m definitely wishing for warmer temps, I’m going to stop and look around. To see what’s under all those trappings that the other season’s wear. To appreciate the simple beauty. Because sometimes “plain” is just plain incredible.

  1. >That's one of the reasons I like winter–to have everything pared down to the essence of itself, and to see the architectural underpinings of things. Great shot. Love the moody lighting. 🙂 LOVE that barn in the prior post! Good to see you here!!
